Frequently Asked Questions: Student Travel Insurance

I am coming to France for a study abroad semester, is the travel insurance offered by ADH suitable?

Yes, ADH travel insurance is perfectly suited for international students coming to France. Our flexible plans cover study abroad semesters and university exchanges for durations ranging from 1 to 12 months. Upon online subscription, you will instantly receive your dual-language (French and English) insurance certificate by email, allowing you to finalize your university enrollment and travel preparations without delay.

My host university requires an international insurance certificate, how can I get it quickly?

Getting your mandatory insurance certificate is instant with ADH. Once your online payment is validated, you immediately receive your certificate by email in PDF format. Provided in both English and French to meet international university standards, it clearly states your exact coverage dates, medical limits, and repatriation guarantees. You can download and submit it for your registration the very same day.

Does the travel insurance cover me if I travel to neighboring countries during my free time?

Absolutely! Your student travel insurance provides worldwide coverage by default. You can safely explore neighboring countries knowing your medical needs are fully covered. Please note: if you travel back to your home country during school holidays, medical emergency coverage is specifically capped at €15,000.

Up to what amount are medical and hospital expenses covered?

ADH offers premium health protection for international students. Your medical, surgical, and hospitalization expenses are covered at 100% of actual costs with zero deductibles and no waiting periods. The coverage limit is set at a generous €300,000 per person, per year, worldwide. This ensures you are fully protected against unexpected healthcare costs, from doctor consultations to emergency hospitalizations.

Do I have to pay medical expenses upfront in case of an emergency or hospitalization?

In the event of a surgery or emergency hospitalization, you do not need to advance any funds; we provide direct billing upon a simple phone call. For routine medical care, you will pay upfront and easily request a reimbursement. Claims under €500 are quickly processed through our online platform, while larger amounts require submitting original invoices by mail.

Are general practitioner or specialist visits covered by the travel insurance?

Yes, both general practitioner and specialist consultations are fully covered. ADH reimburses these medical visits at 100% of the actual costs incurred, with absolutely no deductibles or waiting periods. This comprehensive coverage also applies to paramedical services, prescribed pharmacy medications, laboratory tests, and necessary medical transport, guaranteeing you access to quality healthcare in France.

Does the student travel insurance include medical repatriation in case of an accident or serious illness?

Yes, comprehensive medical repatriation is systematically included and covered at 100% of actual costs. In case of severe illness or accident, we also provide essential assistance guarantees:
    • Covering a family member's round-trip ticket and hotel if you are hospitalized for over 7 days.
    • Funding your extended stay if medically required.
    • Shipping vital medications if unavailable locally.

Is your student travel insurance valid for obtaining a long-stay visa?

Yes, our student travel insurance strictly complies with all embassy and consulate requirements for obtaining a French long-stay visa, student visa, or Working Holiday Visa (WHV). The policy exceeds the legal minimum by offering up to €300,000 in medical coverage and full medical repatriation. You can download the required insurance certificate instantly after subscribing online to complete your visa application.

What are the mandatory coverages required to validate a Working Holiday Visa (WHV) or student visa application?

To secure a WHV or student visa, embassies require robust medical guarantees. The policies proposed by ADH perfectly meet these requirements by including: Medical and hospitalization coverage at 100% of actual costs (up to €300,000). Medical repatriation fully covered. Repatriation of remains covered at 100% (with funeral costs limited to €1,500).

What happens if my student visa is denied? Can I cancel my insurance policy?

While a visa denial is not a specific cancellation motive, our standard 14-day withdrawal policy applies. You have 14 days from the date of your online subscription to cancel the policy and receive a full refund of your premium. If the 14-day window has passed, the premium is considered fully acquired and no partial refunds are issued.

Is this insurance policy compliant with Schengen visa requirements?

Absolutely. Our travel insurance is fully compliant with all Schengen visa requirements. It provides valid coverage across all Schengen Area member states and easily exceeds the mandatory €30,000 minimum by offering up to €300,000 for medical expenses. It systematically includes the required guarantees for emergency hospital treatment and medical repatriation, ensuring your visa application is approved.

Will I be repatriated to my home country in case of a severe medical emergency in France?

Yes. In the event of a severe medical emergency where local treatment is insufficient, our assistance team will organize and fully cover your medical repatriation back to your home country. This service is covered at 100% of actual costs. Our medical board will assess your situation and coordinate the safest transport method to get you home securely.

Can I purchase this travel insurance from my home country before moving to France?

Yes, it is highly recommended to purchase your travel insurance before arriving in France. Our 100% digital platform allows you to get a quote, pay securely with an international credit card, and subscribe from anywhere in the world. You will instantly receive the mandatory certificate needed for your visa application or university enrollment prior to your departure.

Are the insurance certificate and policy documents provided in English for my embassy appointment?
